In the Beginning.....
Rockology were formed by Rod & Jai back in October of 2004 Purely by accident, one night in E.J's Bar –Torquay, where Jai's uncle DREW MILLIN was performing. Rod ((guitar)) & Jai ((vocals)) were currently performing together in the band "Somethin' Else" but had never performed as a duo. But that night Drew invited the Boys to get up and perform. After a brilliant acoustic version of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the water", Andy Oakley (of E.J’s bar) gave the lads there 1st gig. At the time they chose to call themselves "ACOUSTIC ROCK".
Armed with there new name and new image, the duo have gone on to perform some of the best music from the world of Rock. From AC/DC to ZZ TOP the duo are constantly hard at work learning new songs. For the next few months of many gigs and the release of "live @ E.J's" C.D, there was unfortunate clash of names with another duo which led to the renaming from "Acoustic Rock" to "ROCKOLOGY". The name came to Jai one night after watching the Jack Black movie - "School of Rock" (and supping on a bottle of Jack Daniels!!)
Six Years later, Rockology has become one of the most sought after duo's in the Bay, with an extensive repertoire of over 100 songs to choose from !! Rod & Jai have had a great 6 yrs and next year hope to finally finish their long awaited Original CD. Also the lads have taken on alot of new venue's ( check out the venues page for details) and are looking forward to 2011.
So another year over soon, 2010 has been a great year for Rockology and including more venue's for Jai Rocks & CrossFire. Jai recorded his debut solo CD and finally CrossFire got in the studio and recorded a great CD, to celebrate 5 yrs as CrossFire, which is now available at all gigs and from Torquay Clothing shop ' The Edge '. Crossfire chose to record their CD at ' The State of Art ' in local village Compton, which is owned by bass player, producer & good friend Kevin' Billy ' Lindon. It was recorded and mixed over 2 days and whilst the World Cup was being shown !!!!
Anyway, the CD is selling well and Crossfire intend to write some original Blues/Rock for the next planned CD around March 2011 ....
Also Rockology will be looking to release their 2nd CD in 2011, so lots to look out for ......
So far this year Rod still can be seen gigging with his Sister with ROX and also teaches guitar .....After leaving The New Machine & joining Mad Hatter..... Jai has now left the reformed MAD HATTER due to the fact it took up too much time. Jai: " It was nice catching up with old friends and playing some of the old songs, but my priority has to lie with Rockology & CrossFire, which is where my heart really lies now".
So here's to 2010 being yet another great year of venues and Festivals ........ And a Big hello to an exciting year 2011
You will notice the site is a little different than before. Reason for this is Rockology welcome back, their old mate and guru Andy Oakley who they have handed the site over to. As for our good friend Dave of djh computers, he has other commitments now, so we thank Dave for all his hard work over the past 3 yrs and wish him all the best for the future. So i hope you like the new site, Andy has given it a full spring clean ! The usual pages are still with us but in addition we have a venue's page where you can find the address's, a pic of the venue and also details of what services they offer. Please feel free to use our Guest Book, where you can leave your comments and thoughts on Rockology, CrossFire & Jai Rocks or whatever you like really (Bullshit comments will be deleted) or you can always E-mail us at rockology@hotmail.co.uk So please enjoy the site and basically, see ya out there !!!!
